December's New Moon in tropical Capricorn is the final lunation and New Moon of 2024. It occurs slightly over a week past the solstice and two days from the New Year transition. It carries with it a more prominent "new beginning" symbolism but also, especially in the northern hemisphere, more of a lower energy and sluggish vibe.
The New Moon's sextile to its ruler, Saturn, is worth noting, as this lunation can excite or stimulate extra focus or attention to anything that needs to be sorted or accomplished. It is a lovely focal point for strategizing plans, objectives, or clarifying goals for the year ahead.
Chiron's station the day before, and Mars' retrograde opposition to Pluto adds some frictional elements to the New Moon picture. Indeed, Mars' retrograde overall places more revision and restrengthening into play. This is a good time to rebuild our strength and energy rather than spend too much of it.
As for launching ahead with new endeavors, Mercury's retrograde cycle is out of the picture which is good. Yet, still, the shadow dimension is resurfacing in relation to certain desires, actions, and ambitions. It is a time to carefully and cautiously push ahead with new objectives, extra mindful of the more inward dynamics at play and beneath what we're attempting to manifest and accomplish in the world.
