This month's Full Moon in tropical Virgo is a total lunar eclipse, visible over North America (the U.S. and Canada) and western portions of Greenland and South America. It is the first eclipse of 2025 and will be followed by a partial solar eclipse on March 28 in tropical Aries.

Mercury also stations retrograde while in near conjunction with Venus in Aries. Both Venus and Mercury retrograde cycles overlap with this eclipse season. Very broadly speaking, especially between this Full Moon and the New Moon/solar eclipse in two weeks, this is a time for laying low and being particularly mindful of impulse decisions, actions, and reactions.

There are a lot of "shadowy" aspects to the astrology of the moment, areas in which blindspots are being revealed to us. This is not a time that favors egoistic hubris or attempts to assert too dominance over circumstances. It is best to be in a state of receptivity rather than aggressive pursuit of desires.

Virgo highlights an archetype that, on one level, connects to humble service and a focus on inward growth and personal clarity. If we are to see some blossoming or fruits emerging, it would be in that realm, in areas in which we've been dedicated to assisting others or in which inward work has been consistently attended to. The positive yields of this eclipse are likely discreet but still profound, likely hidden from most of the world but significant from our point of view.

Yet, as a south nodal eclipse, there is more release here and letting go rather than getting and attaining what we want. Here is an important warning about whatever we're mired in at the moment, that we should practice less attachment to what shows up and what we're involved with. While the eclipse portal can be a period of rapid inner and outer changes, it is a time of shift and fluctuation, so it is wise to observe more, contemplate, reflect, and make those bigger moves when the dust has settled.
